These Gift Card Reward Program Terms and Conditions (the "Program Terms") govern participation in Venn's optional gift card reward program. They apply exclusively to verified Venn account holders who have explicitly opted in to receive their monthly cashback as digital gift cards.
By opting in, you agree to these Program Terms in addition to the Venn Terms of Service and Privacy Policy (together, the "General Terms"). In the event of a conflict between these Program Terms and the General Terms, these Program Terms prevail with respect to the Gift Card Reward Program. If you opt out, these Program Terms will no longer apply to future cashback cycles.
1. Eligibility and Opt-In
Voluntary Participation. Participation in this Program is entirely optional. It is available only to verified Venn account holders who:
- reside in Canada;
- have reached the age of majority in their province or territory; and
- maintain their account in Good Standing, meaning the account is not suspended, restricted, under investigation for fraud or misuse, or otherwise subject to enforcement action under the General Terms.
To receive a gift card reward, your account must remain in Good Standing through the time your monthly reward is processed.
Opt-Out. You may opt out at any time through your account dashboard. To apply to a given month's cashback payout, your opt-out request must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the 4th day of the following calendar month. For example, to receive your June cashback as a direct deposit rather than a gift card, you must opt out by 11:59 p.m. ET on July 4. Requests received after that time will apply to the following payout cycle. Upon opting out, eligible cashback will revert to Venn's standard direct-deposit method for all future payout cycles.
Equal Value. Gift card rewards are issued at a face value equal to your Approved Monthly Cashback. Choosing to receive rewards as gift cards does not change the amount of cashback you earn.
2. Monthly Payout Mechanics
For purposes of these Program Terms, Approved Monthly Cashback means cashback earned in accordance with the applicable cashback program that has been fully earned, is no longer subject to settlement, reversal or dispute, and has been approved for payout by Venn.
The following rules apply to your Approved Monthly Cashback at the end of each calendar month:
$25.00 CAD Threshold. If your Approved Monthly Cashback is $25.00 CAD or more, the entire Approved Monthly Cashback balance will be paid as a digital gift card through Venn's rewards partner.
Sub-Threshold Balances. If your Approved Monthly Cashback is less than $25.00 CAD, that amount will instead be credited directly to your primary Venn account balance as cash for use within the Venn platform. Sub-threshold balances are never forfeited.
Processing Time. Gift card rewards and direct account credits are generally processed within five (5) business days following the first day of the new calendar month.
Disputed or Reversed Transactions. Cashback associated with transactions that are disputed, reversed, refunded, or otherwise under investigation at month end will not be included in that month's Approved Monthly Cashback. Once the transaction has been finalized, any eligible cashback will be included in a subsequent payout cycle.
3. Tax Responsibility
You are solely responsible for determining and satisfying any federal, provincial, territorial, or local tax obligations arising from your participation in this Program, including any reporting obligations relating to the receipt or redemption of gift card rewards.
Venn does not provide tax advice. The tax treatment of cashback rewards received as gift cards may differ depending on your individual or business circumstances. You should consult your own tax advisor if you have questions regarding the tax treatment of rewards.
4. Third-Party Reward Fulfilment
All digital gift card rewards are fulfilled through Blackhawk Network (Canada) Ltd. ("Blackhawk"), Venn's third-party rewards partner.
Delivery. Blackhawk will send your digital reward link to the email address registered on your Venn account. Venn's obligation with respect to your monthly reward is fulfilled once Blackhawk has transmitted the reward email to your registered email address.
Non-Delivery. If you have not received your reward email within seven (7) business days after the expected processing date, please contact support@venn.ca.
Data Sharing. To facilitate reward delivery, Venn will share your name and registered email address with Blackhawk. Blackhawk's collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information are governed by its own privacy policy. Venn's handling of your personal information continues to be governed by the Venn Privacy Policy.
Claim Link Expiry. Under Venn's current agreement with Blackhawk, reward claim links do not expire. The expiry terms, if any, applicable to redeemed merchant gift cards are determined solely by the applicable merchant or gift card issuer. Venn makes no representation regarding the expiry, redemption, or other terms applicable to merchant gift cards.
Merchant Responsibility. Merchant gift cards are issued by their respective merchants or issuers. Venn is not responsible for the products, services, policies, acceptance, or conduct of any participating merchant.
Technical Support. If you experience technical issues with a reward link after delivery, including redemption errors or balance discrepancies, please contact Blackhawk using the support information included in your reward email. If Blackhawk support is unavailable or your issue remains unresolved, contact support@venn.ca and Venn will make reasonable efforts to assist in escalating the matter.
5. Fraud, Abuse and Program Integrity
Venn may withhold, cancel, reverse, recover, or adjust any cashback or gift card reward if Venn reasonably believes that:
- the reward was obtained through fraud, abuse, or misuse of this Program;
- transactions were not genuine purchases or were undertaken primarily to generate rewards;
- the account has violated the General Terms; or
- doing so is reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law or protect the integrity, security, or proper operation of the Program.
6. Program Modification and Termination
Venn may modify, suspend, or terminate this Program, including changes to the minimum payout threshold, payout mechanics, eligible rewards, or rewards partner, without prior notice except where notice is required by applicable law, in which case Venn will provide the required notice to your registered email address.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, Venn may suspend or modify the Program immediately where reasonably necessary to prevent fraud, comply with applicable law, address security concerns, or protect the integrity of the Program.
Material Modifications. If you do not accept a material modification, you may opt out before the effective date of the change without penalty. Continued participation after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Program Terms.
Termination. If the Program is terminated, any Approved Monthly Cashback that has not yet been paid will instead be credited to your Venn account balance as cash. Gift cards issued before the effective termination date will remain subject to the applicable merchant's and issuer's terms.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Venn is not responsible for:
- delays or failures caused by Blackhawk or other third-party service providers;
- delayed, blocked, filtered, deleted, or undelivered emails outside Venn's reasonable control;
- a merchant's refusal or inability to honour a gift card;
- the products or services provided by participating merchants; or
- interruptions, delays, or failures resulting from events beyond Venn's reasonable control.
Nothing in these Program Terms limits any rights that cannot legally be excluded under applicable consumer protection laws.
8. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Program Terms are governed by the laws specified in the General Terms, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
Any disputes relating to this Program will be resolved in accordance with the dispute resolution provisions contained in the General Terms.
9. General
Entire Agreement. These Program Terms, together with the General Terms, constitute the entire agreement between you and Venn regarding the Gift Card Reward Program and supersede all prior communications relating to the Program.
Severability. If any provision of these Program Terms is determined to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
No Waiver. Venn's failure to enforce any provision of these Program Terms will not constitute a waiver of that or any other provision.
